Tizacare

Common use

The primary use of Tizacare (tizanidine) is in the management of spasticity associated with conditions such as multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and stroke. It belongs to the group of skeletal muscle relaxants. Secondary uses of Tizacare include off-label applications for conditions such as migraines, insomnia, and rebound headaches associated with analgesic withdrawal.

Dosage and direction

Take Tizacare exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole without chewing, crushing, or breaking it. You can take Tizacare tablet with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day. Do not miss any doses of Tizacare as it may reduce its effectiveness.

Precautions

Exercise caution while taking Tizacare if you have the following health conditions: Liver disease; Kidney disease.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tizanidine.
The safety and efficacy of Tizacare in children have not been established yet. Therefore, it is not recommended for use in children without proper medical guidance.

Possible side effect

Side effects of Tizacare: Dry mouth; Drowsiness; Weakness; Dizziness; Urinary tract infections.

Drug interaction

Tizacare may interact with potent inhibitors of CYP1A2 (such as fluvoxamine or ciprofloxacin), beta-blockers (such as metoprolol and bisoprolol), angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors (like lisinopril and perindopril), and benzodiazepines (like diazepam and alprazolam).

Missed dose

In case you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. But if it's almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule.

Overdose

An overdose of Tizacare may lead to symptoms such as extreme tiredness, weakness, slurred speech, slow heartbeat, difficulty breathing, and even loss of consciousness. If you suspect an overdose, contact your doctor immediately.

Storage

Store Tizacare at room temperature. Protect the medicine from light and moisture. Keep the product out of reach of children. Use the product before its expiry date.
